Our Story

About the Resort

Three generations, one stretch of coast, and a brief that was one sentence long.

Hospitality

Since 2002

A house built around water and light

The Reyes family bought this point in 1974 and did nothing with it for twenty-eight years. That patience is the reason the dune is still intact.

When Azura finally opened, the architects had been given a single instruction: never let a guest lose sight of the sea. The result steps down the slope rather than over it — four low storeys, glass on the seaward face, and a colonnade that keeps every corridor shaded and open to the air.

We are still family-owned. Isabel Reyes, our general manager, grew up on this beach. Fourteen of our team have been here more than a decade, and it shows in the small things: the way your coffee arrives before you ask on the second morning, and the way the boathouse already knows which cove you liked.

What We Hold To

Four things we will not trade

These have not changed since the first season, through two refurbishments and one hurricane.

Sea on Every Side

No room faces a wall or a car park. If we cannot give it water, we do not sell it as a room.

The Dune Stays

Nothing is built above the dune ridge. It cost us eleven rooms in the original plan and we would do it again.

People Who Stay

Average team tenure is nine years. We train from within and we pay above the market to keep it that way.

No Hidden Fees

One rate, one line. Breakfast, spa circuit, cabanas, Wi-Fi and valet are all in it.

Milestones

Half a century on this point

Manuel Reyes buys nine hectares of scrub and dune at the southern tip of the key. Three development proposals arrive over the next two decades. All three are turned down.
The original south wing and the colonnade open in November 2002, with twenty-eight rooms, one restaurant and a swimming pool that is still the lap pool today.
A resident marine biologist joins full-time. The reef shelf in front of the property is surveyed each quarter, and the turtle nesting corridor is closed to guests between May and October.
Fourteen suites, six pool villas and the 1,400 m² marine spa are added on the landward side, taking the property to its present forty-two keys.
Rooftop photovoltaics and a battery wall now carry the property's entire daytime load, including the spa's sea-water pumps.

Words from our guests

An average of 4.9 out of 5 across 2,400 verified reviews. Here is a small selection.

We have stayed at resorts across three continents and nothing matched the calm of the ocean villa. The glass pavilion at sunrise is worth the flight on its own.
Amelia Hartwell Ocean Villa · 6 nights
The team remembered our anniversary without being told twice. Breakfast on the terrace, a private cabana, and the most attentive service we have experienced.
Daniel Okafor Executive Suite · 4 nights
Travelling with two children is rarely restful, but the family suite and the kids marine programme gave us an actual holiday. We rebooked before checking out.
Sofia Bianchi Family Suite · 8 nights
The marine spa is exceptional — the salt-water flotation and the thalasso circuit left me better rested than a fortnight off. Faultless from arrival to departure.
Marcus Lindqvist Penthouse Suite · 3 nights
